The organizations that get through transition well don't move faster. They see more clearly.

When what worked stops working, the instinct is to move fast. Reorganize. Restructure. Push through the pressure.

That instinct is expensive.

At a certain scale of disruption, growth, or change, the most valuable thing an organization can have is an experienced outside perspective on what is actually happening — and what it will take to keep the mission moving forward.

Upward Spiral provides senior advisory support for organizations navigating the moments that matter most — with an outside perspective clear enough to act on.

THE PROBLEM

You already know something has shifted. The question is what to do about it.

When your team is stretched thin and the people who should be leading are spending their energy managing chaos, the pressure intensifies and decisions compound.

Maybe you’ve tried addressing this before:

  • Leadership coaching that focused on mindset but never touched the structural dysfunction underneath.

  • Consultants who delivered reports that no one implemented because they were disconnected from operational reality.

  • Offsites that produced temporary clarity and dissolved within weeks.

Sound familiar?

These approaches target the wrong layer. The structure you built to get here was right for that moment. This is a different moment.

WHY UPWARD SPIRAL

Organizations cycle through familiar challenges. The same tensions resurface. The same dynamics reappear.

This doesn't mean the organization is doomed. This is just how growth actually works.

What determines whether each cycle builds or depletes is whether leadership has a clear, grounded picture of where things actually stand.

Most structural interventions skip that step.

Large firms diagnose from the outside. They deliver frameworks built for organizations that look like yours, not the one you actually run. The recommendations are technically sound. The implementation is yours to figure out.

That gap — between diagnosis and execution — is where transitions fail.

Upward Spiral works differently. The diagnostic is its own complete engagement, not a sales tool for what follows. The support that comes after is prescribed by what the work reveals, not a pre-built model. The goal is always your independence — not your ongoing need.

Why most change initiatives don’t stick

Caroline founded Upward Spiral after two decades operating inside the kind of complexity most advisory practices only study.

She managed a $35M humanitarian portfolio at the International Rescue Committee during active displacement crises in Pakistan. At Meta, she co-led the company-wide operational response to Covid-19 — a black swan event with no playbook and no margin for error — then led the largest organizational transition across scaled support operations, enabling a 30% increase in operational volume through a 1,000-person reorg while doubling team size and raising the bar of seniority on a global team of 65. She has worked at the UN policy level, where organizational dysfunction has direct human consequences.

She has been inside the room when the stakes are high and the solutions aren't clean. That is the experience she brings to every engagement.
