Work (and life) philosophies
In order of the moment:
Every person has redeeming qualities. There is always common ground to be had.
Have personal integrity. Integrity is the quality of being truthful and honest with yourself and others. Intentionally align your behaviors and actions with your values. Do your best. Do what you say you will. Own mistakes. Continually improve.
Show your work. Your process is as important as the outcome. Plus, someone might be able to learn from your example!
Praise as often as you critique.
There are always multiple ways to solve a problem. You’ll have a better outcome if you apply Adam Grant's "Think Again" methodologies. Or at least, question your first impulse.
If you are going to invest time in a deliverable, make sure it’s a ‘two-fer’ i.e. share it in a different context as an opportunity for others to learn and/or simply for transparency. Always lean into transparency, especially when it feels uncomfortable.
No circumstances are permanent. Neither the good nor the bad times.
Change and learning require intentionality. It’s worth it and it gets easier.
